aftercare.

  • day 1

    • No eating for the first 3 hour.

    • It is very important to remove the lymph fluid from the surface of the skin to avoid heavy scabbing.

    • No hot beverages

    • Drink with a straw

    • You may experience swelling Day 1 and 2. You can ice the treated area with a Ziploc bag full of ice cubes or frozen peas (make sure there is a cloth barrier between your lips and the bags).

    • Icing the area will help decrease bruising.

    • Before bed, if there is still some dry lymph, pat dry and apply aquaphor. Sometimes your lips can bruise even after the procedure. Bruising will subside within 24 hours post-procedure.

    • Sleep with an extra pillow to keep head elevated to decrease swelling and bruising. Try not to lay on your side.

  • day 2-7

    • You will experience dry flaky lips, comparable to applying layers of matte lipstick. Once scabs flake off, it may appear as if NO COLOR HAS RETAINED. Over the next 6-8 weeks, the color will naturally “bloom” and return to a lovely soft shade.

    • Apply Aquaphor/lip balm often to keep the lip skin moist. Do not let the lips dry out. DO NOT LET THE LIPS DRY OUT.

  • Until all scabs are gone, please avoid...

    • Water (on lip area, aside from cleaning them)

    • Makeup

    • Gym and exercise

    • Sauna

    • Pools

    • Sunbathing

    • Spicy Food

    • Kissing

    • DO NOT pick dry lips or scabs

    • DO NOT apply anything else besides the ointment provided

    • DO NOT use any creams that contain acids or ingredients that will lighten or exfoliate the skin.
